Leftovers, Tijana Kačarević
The identity of objects, like human identity, is built on two coordinates: the temporal one achieved within their biography and the spatial one, created by the way they are used, by the placement of objects in a physical context, nearby other objects.
The Leftovers project started as an observation of the context in which objects are acquired and unused, of the different forms of consumption that define different cultures. Arrived through the Erasmus educational program inside a student dorm, Tijana Kačarević asks the following question: Why do we question the identity of objects? Objects reflect the identity of the person who has them, thus establishing an identity relationship between the object and the possessor. Finding an unknown object in your temporal home makes you extremely curious.
Tijana
Kačarević urges us to an imaginative exercise, to project ourselves into the
previous life of the object. What is his story? Who abandoned him? Why?
